PPG’s First Annual Spanish Poetry Contest in 2018 drew a good response from high school students in PUSD. Forty-three original Spanish poems following the theme “Lost and Found” were submitted to for adjudication. Prizes of Amazon gift cards were awarded to the first three placings.
First place went to Fatemeh Nourollahi for her poem “Metamorphosis”. Erin Siegel was second; and Rilee Wadsworth was third. All three, at the time, were students at Rancho Bernardo High School. Judges for the contest were Ramon Garcia and Dora Remos of San Diego and Paco Argiz of Indianapolis, Indiana. PPG is grateful to Kim Rizzo, Spanish teacher at RB High for her outstanding guidance and support of the contest. Plans are underway for PPG’s second annual poetry contest.
